Wrightwood 659 is a contemporary exhibition space dedicated to architecture and socially engaged art. Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the space reimagines a 1920s building through Ando’s signature use of cast-in-place concrete and a poetic orchestration of natural light.

Situated in a city renowned for both its architecture and cultural institutions, Wrightwood 659 offers a setting for contemplative encounters with art and architecture, while fostering engagement with the pressing social issues of our time. Located at 659 W. Wrightwood Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, it is a private, non-commercial initiative conceived as an integral part of the city’s cultural and civic fabric—and as a distinctive new model for an arts space and community resource.
