Second Saturdays: Curator Tours of Martin Wong Chinatown USA

Monthly

Join us on the second Saturday of each Month through July for a special curator-led tour of Martin Wong: Chinatown USA, a major survey featuring more than 120 paintings, drawings, photocollages, and ceramics by the visionary Chinese American artist Martin Wong (1946–1999). The first museum exhibition in nearly a decade devoted to the queer painter and poet, Martin Wong: Chinatown USA traces Wong’s enduring engagement with Asia through portraiture and mythical and personal architectures. While critical attention has often centered on his depictions of New York’s Lower East Side, this exhibition foregrounds the lesser known, yet deeply significant works inspired by Chinatowns in San Francisco and New York.
